Name Changes (Minor)

The minor name change petition is filed by the parent(s) or the court appointed guardian(s) of the child. In certain cases when there is one parent filing a name change petition for a minor, it is recommended and helpful if the absent parent consents to the name change.

Complcations may arise within certain situations when one parent cannot be located, or is incarcerated. When this occurs, certain facts are carefully examined by the courts and consideration is given in the best interest of the minor.

Reasons of Name Changes (Minor)

  • To add/remove biological father name.
  • To add/remove biological mother name.
  • We have had individuals change their minor(s) name primarily for luck and religious reasons (e.g. in certain countries, they have believes that the given name correspondes with the childs faith).
  • For Cumbersome reason (e.g. the minor name is hard to pronounce, complicated spelling, and etc).
  1. Parent(s) and guardian(s) file a minor name change in order to remove a name that has been given by the biological father's who has now abandoned the minor(s).
  2. Parent(s) and guardian(s) file a minor name change in order to remove a name that has been given by the biological mother's who has now abandoned the minor(s).
  3. Certain parent(s) and guardian(s) change their minor(s) name because of nationality and religious reasons.
  4. Some parent(s) and guardian(s) change their minor(s) name due to complicated spelling or hard to pronounce.
