Why do I need to file a DBA?

Individuals and corporations file for a DBA if they conduct any type of business transaction other than the individuals name or corporations name. You need to file for a DBA if you are going to open a business bank account or seek to obtain other business permits. Once you open a DBA, you can collect money from your clients/customers under that business name.
